matter of such immense importance concerning the Creator of all things.


Of Abu Bakr the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, said, “Everyone I called to
Islam expressed some hesitation and doubt except Abu Bakr. When I spoke to him
about Islam, he neither hesitated nor expressed any doubt.”

Not long after Abu Bakr had embraced Islam he met his friends Talha son of Ubaydillah
and Sa’ad son of Abi Waqqas and spoke to them of Islam, and so it was that they too
were blessed and recognized the truth and entered the fold of Islam. Among the early
Companions who converted to Islam under the hand of Abu Bakr were Othman son of
Madhod. Abu Ubaydah son of Jarrah, Abdur Rahman son of Awf, Abu Salma son of
Abdil Asad and Arqam son of Abil Arqam.

Later on, when a dispute arose between Abu Bakr and Omar the Prophet, praise and
peace be upon him, intervened and reminded Omar, “When Allah sent me as His
Prophet to this nation, all except Abu Bakr said I lied. Abu Bakr said, “You are speaking
the truth” then he helped me in every way he could with his life and wealth.” Then the
Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, said twice, “For my sake will you
