him, took hold of me by the collar and said, “O son of Al Khattab accept Islam”, then he
prayed for me saying, „O Allah, guide him.‟ It was then that I said, „I bear witness that
there is no god except Allah, and I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah.”
Omar told those who were with him that the Companions accompanying the Prophet,

praise and peace be upon him, immediately exalted Allah saying, “Allah is the Greatest”
so loudly that it was heard throughout the streets of Mecca.

Amr, the son of Othman said that his father, Othman had told him that one day as he
was visiting his aunt Arwa, the daughter of Abdul Mutalib, the Messenger of Allah, praise
and peace be upon him, arrived. Othman said, “I started staring at him because I had
heard mention of his prophethood. He turned to me and asked, „Othman, what is the
matter?‟ I replied, I am surprised that there is so much talk about you when you are the
