In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah
To Chosroes, the Emperor of Persia
„Peace be on the one who follows guidance, who believes in Allah and His Messenger,
and bears witness that there is no god except One, Allah, who has no partners and that
Muhammad is His worshiper and Messenger.
I call you with the invitation of Allah, because I am the Messenger of Allah to all mankind
who warns the living (of the punishment) so that the decree becomes binding upon the
unbelievers. If you accept Islam, you will live in peace, but if you refuse, the sin of the
fire-worshipers will be upon you.‟
Chosroes tore the letter up and wrote to Bahan. The rest of the hadith is the same as the
one previously mentioned with the addition that when the two men entered the presence
of the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, their faces were clean shaven
whereas their moustaches were grown and very long. The Messenger of Allah, praise
and peace be upon him, disliked to look at them and said, “Woe to you, who instructed
