THE OPENING OF MECCA

THE UNDETECTED MARCH TO MECCA

It was now the 10ᵗʰ of Ramadan in the 8ᵗʰ year after the Migration when the Messenger
of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, called upon his Companions to prepare


themselves (to march) but did not disclose their destination. In preparation for his
absence the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, appointed Abu Ruhm
Kulthom, son of Husayn Ghifari to be his Amir in Medina.

There are several narrations concerning the Opening of Mecca. In order to distinguish
each one, the narration has been numbered.
