THE SPEECH OF THE PROPHET ON THE DAY MECCA
WAS OPENED, praise and peace be upon him
Omar narrates that on the Day Mecca was opened the Messenger of Allah, praise and
peace be upon him, sent for Safwan, son of Umayah, Abu Sufyan, son of Harb and
Harith, son of Hisham. Upon their arrival Omar said, “Allah has given us power over
them today, I will remind them of what they did in the past.” As Omar was saying this,
the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, spoke saying, “My example and
yours is like that of Joseph and his brothers, then he recited:
“He (Joseph) replied, 'Let no reproach be on you this day.
Allah will forgive you He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.”
Koran Ch. 12-92.
