Urwa, son of Zubair narrates from Ikrima that when he (Ikrima) met the Messenger of
Allah, praise and peace be upon him, he said, “O Muhammad, this woman has informed
upon him, replied, “Indeed, you have been granted amnesty.” Ikrima responded saying,
“I bear witness that there is no god except the One, Allah who has no partner and that
Muhammad is the worshiper and Messenger of Allah. I also bear witness that you are
the best of people, the most truthful person and the one who best fulfils his promises.”
Ikrima said that he had out of embarrassment, bowed his head as he said this.
Thereafter, Ikrima said, “O Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, seek the
forgiveness of Allah for me for all the enmity I have displayed towards you, for every
journey I undertook to promote disbelief.” Whereupon, the Messenger of Allah, praise
and peace be upon him, supplicated, “O Allah, forgive Ikrima for all the enmity he
