prophet.” The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, replied, „The
Messenger of Allah.” I inquired, “Has Allah sent you?” and he replied that indeed Allah
had. Then I asked what Allah has sent him with. The Messenger of Allah, praise and
peace be upon him, responded, “That Allah is One, alone and that no partners should be
ascribe to him, that idol worshiping must be destroyed, and family ties must be
maintained.” Then I asked, „Who else adheres to this belief?” He answered, “A free man
and a slave.” It was then that I saw Abu Bakr with his freed slave Bilal.” I said, “I
want to
be with you.” But the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, said, „At this
moment in time you cannot do so, instead return home, and when you hear that I am
established, come to me.‟ So, after embracing Islam I returned home.”
“When I learned the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, had migrated to
Medina I made a point of contacting each passing caravan to make enquires about him.
Then, one day a caravan arrived from Medina so I asked, “What is the condition of the
person from Mecca who has migrated to you?” They replied, “His people tried to
assassinate him but they were unsuccessful. When we left Medina, people were flocking
Messenger of Allah.” I inquired, “Has Allah sent you?” and he replied that indeed Allah
had. Then I asked what Allah has sent him with. The Messenger of Allah, praise and
