to him.” Upon hearing this news, I mounted my camel and rode off for Medina. When I
reached Medina I went straight to the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon
him, and asked, “Do you recognize me?” He replied, “Are you not the person who met
me in Mecca?” I responded, “Yes, indeed I am that same person.” Then I asked him, “O
Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, teach me something that Allah has
taught you that I don‟t know.” And this he did.
The preceding is a partial transmission of the hadith.
Amr, son of Abasa spoke yet again about his conversion saying, “I asked the Messenger
of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, what is the message Allah has sent you with?”
He replied, “Allah has sent me with the message that family ties should be maintained,
lives should be protected, roads should be safe (to travel), idols should be destroyed and
that Allah is the One to be worshipped and that He has no partner.” Thereupon I said to
the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, “These teachings from Allah are
indeed very fine. I make you my witness that I have accepted and believe you as a true
Prophet (of Allah) If it is best, may I stay with you now?” He replied, “As you can see, the
people regard this religion which I have brought to be very evil, therefore, you should
return home, but when you hear I have reached the place of my migration, you may
