THE PROPHET’S INVITATION TO KHALID SON OF SA’EED,
SON OF AL ‘AS

Khalid, the son of Sa‟eed was among the early converts. He was the first of his brothers
to accept Islam.

His conversion began one night when he had a vision that disturbed him greatly. In his
vision he saw himself standing on the brink of a pit of blazing fire. He describe the fire as
being so huge that Allah alone knows just how huge it was. In his vision he saw his
father trying to push him into the fire, however, the Messenger of Allah, praise and
peace be upon him, caught hold of him by his waist and prevented him from falling in.

The intensity of the vision was so alarming that he woke up in a state of shock, and said
to himself, “This must definitely be a true vision that cannot be dismissed.”

A while after he met Abu Bakr and related his vision to him. Abu Bakr assured him,
