THE PLEDGE OF ABU DHARR

Abul Muthanna reports from Abu Dharr that there was a time when the Messenger of
Allah, praise and peace be upon him, called him and asked, “Do you wish to pledge your
allegiance in exchange for Paradise?” Abu Dharr accepted and stretched out his hand.
Whereupon the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, made the condition
