When it was possible Salman slipped away again and was blessed to be in the company
of the Prophet, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam. At that time the Prophet, salla Allahu alihi wa
sallam, was wearing a turban and a robe slung across one of his shoulders thereby
exposing the seal of the prophethood that lay between his shoulders. Salman once
again recalled the words of his dear friend the abbot and started to cry as he knew that
Allah had blessed him to be in the company of the last Prophet of Allah, salla Allahu alihi
wa sallam. The Prophet, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, saw Salman, and asked him to
come close and sit in front of him. Then the Prophet, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, asked
Salman to tell his Companions his story, and so Salman narrated the events that had, by
the blessing of Allah, brought him to be in the company of the Messenger of Allah, salla
Allahu alihi wa sallam. At the end of Salman‟s narration, the Prophet, salla Allahu alihi
wa sallam, said, “O Salman, redeem yourself from slavery.” So Salman went to his
master to ask how much he needed to buy his freedom. The Jew demanded a very high
price and told him that he would need 300 trees to be planted as well as 40 palm trees,
and on top of this outrageous demand he also demanded 4760 grams of gold.

Salman returned to the Prophet, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, and told him of the Jew‟s
demand whereupon the Prophet, salla Allahu alihi wa sallam, asked his Companions if
