The purified heart and the diseased heart 9:123-127

9:124 Whenever a chapter is sent down to you (Prophet Muhammad), some ask, 'Which of you has it increased in belief?' It will surely increase the belief of the believers and they are joyful.

9.124 وَإِذَا مَا أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَذِهِ إِيمَانًا فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

9:125 As for those whose hearts are diseased, they will be increased in filth added to their filth, so that they die as unbelievers.

9.125 وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَتْهُمْ رِجْسًا إِلَى رِجْسِهِمْ وَمَاتُواْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُونَ

9:126 Do they not see how once or twice every year they are tried? Yet still they neither repent nor remember.

9.126 أَوَلاَ يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ يُفْتَنُونَ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ مَّرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لاَ يَتُوبُونَ وَلاَ هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

9:127 Whenever a chapter is sent down, they glance at each other, (asking), 'Does anyone see you?' Then they turn away. Allah has turned away their hearts, for they are a nation who do not understand.

9.127 وَإِذَا مَا أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ هَلْ يَرَاكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ ثُمَّ انصَرَفُواْ صَرَفَ اللّهُ قُلُوبَهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لاَّ يَفْقَهُون
